Southington Man Killed in North Haven Accident

State police said the 70-year-old was killed almost instantly when his truck rolled onto him following an accident.

The driver of a dump truck killed Thursday when his truck rolled onto him after he became stuck under a railroad overpass in North Haven has been identified as a 70-year-old Southington resident.

John Grillo died almost instantly after the truck fell onto him early Thursday afternoon, police said.

Grillo had been traveling north along North Frontage Road with his dump truck. The truck's dump backing was raised and the truck became stuck under a CSX railroad overpass, according to a release from Connecticut State Police.  

Police said he exited the truck, at which point the truck rolled over and onto him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers with the North Haven Police Department and Connecticut State Police remain on scene and the incident remains under investigation. Further details were not immediately available.
