Suspect Collared in Quinnipiac Avenue Stabbing

54-year-old man stabbed in neck and shoulder.

North Haven police have apprehended a suspect alleged to have stabbed a 54-year-old man near Quinnipiac Avenue late Friday afternoon.

Around 3:13 p.m., police were alerted to screaming in the area by Dispatch, and subsequently discovered the victim stabbed in the neck and shoulder.

Following the arrival of North Haven Police, Fire Department and AMR ambulance personnel on scene, the wounded man was transported to Yale New-Haven hospital for further examination and treatment.

Robert Wagner, 23, of Quinnipiac Avenue was identified as a suspect after he fled the scene of the attack through a wooded area prior to the arrival of the police. With the help of a witness in the neighborhood, officers located Wagner half a mile away on Moulthrop Street, where he was arrested and taken into custody. 

No motive for the stabbing has been given by police, and the name of the victim has not been released.

Wagner is currently being held on a a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Monday October 3, 2011 on charges of assault in the first degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, carrying a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of narcotics, and breach of peace.
