Third Arrest Made in Copper Wire Theft Case

Police say third arrest concludes investigation.

An arrest made yesterday by the North Haven Police Department will wrap up an investigation into the theft of $4,000 worth of copper wire from the United Illuminating electric company.

Police began searching for suspects after the spooled wire was reported missing by UI in March.

Charged with the larceny are Anthony Carpentino, 23, of East Haven, as well as Jerry DiBenedetto, 25, and his brother, Joseph DiBenedetto, 24, both of whom live together New Haven.

The trio have been charged with with Larceny third-degree, Larceny fifth-degree, Conspiracy, and Criminal Trespass third-degree.

Both DiBenedetto brothers were released on a $5,000 bond, while Carpentino remains incarcerated on a separate assault charge.

The next court date in the case is scheduled for April 28 in Meriden.
