Weekend Arrests

Five arrests made over the weekend.

  • Last Friday, police arrested Bernice Velazquez, 26, of New Haven on charges of larceny third-degree in connection to the theft of nearly $2,000 from a Universal Drive store. Valazquez, a former employee of the retailer, was stopped in New Haven after officers ran down a warrant for her arrest issued earlier by the North Haven police.Valazquez is scheduled to appear in court on July 21.

 

  • Later Friday night, North Haven police arrested two men on a series of drug-related charges. Apprehended while parked in a Sackett Point lot, Lawrence Apicella Jr., 23, of New Haven was booked for possession with intent to sell narcotics, possession with intent to sell a controlled substance, and possession of both narcotics and a controlled substance. Andrew Baber, 24, of East Haven, with Apicella at the time of the bust, was charged with possession of narcotics. The two are scheduled to appear in court July 21. 

 

  • A Vermont man attempted to give police a fraudulent identity after he was pulled over Saturday afternoon on Universal Drive. Richard W. Harbour Jr., 38, of Montpelier was arrested for operating without a license, failure to renew his registration, criminal impersonation, and possession of drug paraphernalia. When Harbour's true identity was discovered, police learned he was wanted for failure to appear in court in Madison, Clinton, Branford, and Hartford. He was held overnight on a $92,000 bond, and was arraigned this morning.

  • Christopher DiLungo, 24, of North Branford was arrested Sunday in connection to an ongoing investigation into drug prescription forgeries. Charged with Forgery second-degree, conspiracy, and criminal attempt to obtain prescription drugs at a Universal Drive pharmacy, DiLungo was held on a $5,000 bond, and will appear in court July 21.
