Woman Charged with Stealing $5,500 from North Haven Business

New Haven woman booked for larceny in the third degree.

A New Haven woman has been arrested for stealing over $5,000 from the Universal Drive business where she worked, North Haven police reported Monday.

Athena Webb, 24, was apprehended following a month-long investigation by the NHPD, and was charged with larceny in the third degree. 

Webb's scheme, according to police, involved taking money out of the business' cash register and covering up the theft by creating false transactions based on refunds from coupons.

Over a six-month period, Webb is alleged to have stolen $5,521.09.

She is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on 11/10/2011.
