Youth Charged with Assault in BB Gun Shooting

Sixteen-year-old charged with assault in the second degree after shooting younger brother in the face with an airsoft rifle.

North Haven Police responding to a call yesterday on Bassett Road found that a sixteen-year-old youth had shot his younger brother in the face with an airsoft pellet rifle.

An investigation by Officer Andrew Stavride found that the teenager had opened fire on his sibling as the younger boy was entering the home from the driveway. The sixteen-year-old then continued shooting once his brother was inside, striking him in the face with a BB and causing a laceration over his eye.

The younger sibling was taken to the hospital for treatment of the wound, while the elder brother was charged with assault in the second degree, risk of injury to a minor, reckless endangerment in the second degree, and breach of peace.

He appeared in juvenile court this morning, and the CT Department of Children and Families will conduct a followup investigation into the incident.
