Original Story

Former State Representative and Third Selectman for North Haven Steve Fontana will make a major announcement today at 11:00 a.m. from the Wallingford Town Hall.

Rumors have circulated in the past several months that Fontana, who served seven terms as North Haven's State Rep, has been considering a run against Republican incumbent Len Fasano for the position of State Senator for the 34th District.

While a press released issued by Fontana late on January 20 made no specific mention of the nature of the announcement, it did reiterate the potential candidate's strong credentials for the position, his 1997 to 2011 term as State Rep, and his 2007-2011 appointment as Selectman.

Republicans Len Fasano and Dave Yaccarino announced that they intend to run for reelection for State Senator and State Representative respectively late last week.

Yaccarino defeated Fontana in the 2010 election for State Representative with 53.7% of the vote.

Stay tuned for updates on Fontana's announcement as information becomes available.
