Freda: More Than 30 North Haven Roads Remain Unplowed

"We understand that many of our residents are frustrated with the cleanup efforts. We are doing the best we can," First Selectman Freda said in a Monday blizzard recovery update, adding the town has also contacted private contractors.

The following is the latest blizzard recovery update from North Haven First Selectman Michael Freda posted on the town's Facebook page.

North Haven along with many other cities and towns continue to be in a “state of emergency." We still have approximately 32 roads that remain unplowed. Our DPW is working to free up these roads.

Once all roads have been opened, we will continue our efforts over the next week to complete curb to curb clean up.

We understand that many of our residents are frustrated with the cleanup efforts. We are doing the best we can and have reached out to other independent contractors to assist us where possible.

We ask that you refrain from calling 911 unless it is a true emergency. For any snow related calls, please contact our Department of Public Works at 203-239-5321 ext. 400.

We are also cancelling sanitation pick up for this week. It is not safe to put our residents’ trash receptacles at the roadside until we are able to clear the snow to the curb.

We are also using our sanitation crews to assist with snow removal. Trash pickup will resume next Monday, February 18th. Public schools will also be closed tomorrow.

We will continue to keep you posted.
