North Haven First Selectman Michael Freda reports the town remains in a state of emergency following last weekend's historic snowfall, according to message via the CT Alert system this afternoon.

Freda said the focus for town crews today will be "widening main roads to insure access for public safety and to improve travel conditions for cars."

As of late yesterday afternoon, more than 30 roads were still impassable.

"Please be patient," the first selectman asked residents as the recovery process continues.

Freda added that an announcement from the superintendent regarding whether or not North Haven Public Schools would reopen tomorrow morning would be forthcoming.

The town has cancelled trash pick up for this week. Trash pickup will resume next Monday, Feb. 18.

Also, the parking ban put in place by the North Haven Police Department has been extended until further notice from the town.
