After , Hobby Lobby — an arts, crafts and home supplies superstore chain — will be opening a new store later this year in the former HomeGoods location along Frontage Road in East Haven.
The Oklahoma City-based company has just submitted plans to ready the space for their new store, said Art DeSorbo, East Haven economic development coordinator.
The site plan submission to the town's Building Department follows the in May to rent out the now-vacant retail storefront space in the TJ Max Shopping Center.
Over the last few months, the arts and crafts superstore chain with C. A. White, the New Haven-based company that manages the Frontage Road plaza, about moving into the there.
In May, Vince Parker, a spokesman for Hobby Lobby, confirmed that the Oklahoma City-based firm is "looking in the East Haven area" to open a new store.
Although the company has more than 500 stores in 41 states, East Haven will be its first spot in Connecticut.
