North Haven Lawyer to Oversee Police Dispute

The town of East Haven is seeking to get rid of three local police commissioners. A North Haven attorney has been tapped as a third party in the hearing.

A North Haven attorney will be in the middle of an ongoing dispute between the East Haven Police Department and Board of Police Commissioners. The town is seeking to remove three of the commissioners and a hearing will be held on the issue. 

The hearing, which will be open to the public, will be presided over by an impartial hearing officer,  of North Haven.

All three men were members of the commission during the  with former Police Chief Leonard Gallo in the wake of the  into alleged civil rights abuses by East Haven Police officers.

That investigation led to the  for alleged violation of the civil rights of Latino residents and others, as well as a "" critical of Gallo and some officers within the EHPD from the U.S. Justice Department.

The hearing is on April 17 in the East Haven  at 7 p.m.
