According to statistics released by the Connecticut Department of Labor for July, North Haven's unemployment rate is 8.9%, slightly below the statewide average of 9.2%. The national rate is 9.1%.
Of the town's 13,379-strong labor force, 1,186 are currently unemployed.
Compared to other towns in the region, North Haven's rate is lower than both East Haven (10.4%), and Hamden (9.6%), and higher than Branford (8%), North Branford (7.8%), and Cheshire (7.6%).
