The majority of the proposed budget's 1% increase lies in $27 million in capital requests, including funds pegged to go towards a new fire and sanitation truck for the municipality.

A source of controversy has centered around what some parents and teachers consider an underfunding of school resources. The Board of Education has requested a 1% increase in spending this year, with outgoing superintendent Patricia Brozek promising to maintain current programs and services.
