Another Condo Project For Sale in East Hampton

The 127-unit 'Belltown Place' would be affordable housing and is planned for a site on South Main Street.

There's another large-scale condo project for sale in East Hampton, this one on South Main Street.

The Belltown Place project would include 127 units on a 20-acre parcel that would be served by public sewers and water.

The town had sought to block the project and was embroiled in a lawsuit with the developer for several years. However, the town lost the battle and entered into an agreement with the Pelletier Development Co., four years ago.

The property, which is for sale for $459,000, is currently being marketed by Prudential Connecticut.

Another condo project is also for sale here across town.

Hampton Woods, a previously approved 263-unit “townhome” development off Route 66, just east of Bear Swamp Road, is also being marketed by Prudential CT Realty for nearly $5 million.

The project is situated on a little over 63 acres at 206 East High St.

The development was proposed and is owned by developer Peter Carli and was narrowly approved by the town’s Planning and Zoning Commission in June of 2010. Under the plan, the townhomes would be built on about 14 acres and the remaining land would be kept as open space.

The project also includes a provision that 30 percent of the units be offered as “affordable housing.” Hampton Woods was developed under a state law that requires towns to accept affordable housing projects. East Hampton several years ago sought to fight such developments here, but lost. This would be the town’s third affordable housing projects.
