After 44 Years, North Haven High's Annie Haynes To Retire

North Haven High School's longtime business teacher will retire at the end of the school year.

After 44 years of teaching at North Haven High School, Annie Haynes is finally calling it quits.

Haynes, who was hired at age 20 to teach business at North Haven High School and stayed ever since, is retiring at the end of the school year, according to The North Haven Citizen. Haynes said what kept her going all of these years is the students.

“What’s kept me focused are the diverse groups of students with their different needs, different questions and different types of seeking satisfactions,” Haynes told the newspaper. “Over the years, the students have changed. The generations are different. They learn differently. I had to be able to relate and teach different generations. I had to change because the students changed.”
