Bert Mozealous: Republican Candidate for Board of Education

Retired teacher says young people North Haven's most valuable asset.

Mozealous, 62, is a retired teacher with two grown sons who both graduated from North Haven High School. In his 28 years as a resident, Mozealous has been active in the community in a variety of roles, from Boy Scout volunteer to youth football coach. He has been board of education secretary the past two years, and during his tenure as a teacher he served many years as local association president and chief contract negotiator.

As a veteran educator and parent whose own children are products of the North Haven school system, Mozealous said he feels he has a lot to offer as a prospective board member. He said having a board strongly focused on fiscal responsibility and smart decision making is especially
crucial in tough economic times.

“The board of education must make use of the resources we have available to provide a quality education for all students,” Mozealous said. “The challenge is to continue to grow our educational system into one of the most respected in the state. It is important that the board
supports our administrators in making the right decisions for the town and its most valuable assets for the future: our young people.”
