Big Third Quarter Pushes North Haven Football Past Amity

The North Haven Indians end the season with a 32-7 victory over Amity in the annual Thanksgiving Day showdown on Nov. 22.

 

In the annual Thanksgiving Day showdown, the North Haven Indians took a 32-7 home win over Amity to end the 2012 season with a 7-3 record. While Amity took an early 7-6 first-quarter lead, North Haven exploded for 26 unanswered points in the second half for the victory.

The Indians opened the scoring with Jalon White's four-yard run, but the extra point was no good. Amity took the lead with 16 seconds to play in the first quarter with a touchdown and the extra point.

The second quarter was scoreless and the second half was all North Haven with White running in the first two of four scores, with scoring rushes of four and two yards, respectively. Both two-point conversion attempts failed, but the Indians reclaimed the lead 18-7. 

With 2:22 to play in the third quarter, North Haven's Mike Halloran ran in a seven-yard touchdown. Sam Biller's extra point was good. Ethan Suraci closed out the scoring with 4:23 to play in the final frame on a six-yard run. Biller's extra point finalized the score at 32-7.

White led North Haven with 26 rushes for 280 yards. Quincy Pecora added 73 yards on seven rushes and Suraci had six rushes for 48 yards.

Defensively, North Haven totaled 89 touchdowns led by Connor McDonald with 12 tackles and Suraci with 10. Patrick Mikos added nine tackles, while Joe Lopez and Matt Marcarelli each had seven.
