Congratulations NHHS Class of 2013!

On June 27, 291 seniors became graduates at an indoor ceremony held at the North Haven High School.

Due to the unpredictable June weather, the graduation ceremony for the North Haven High School Class of 2013 was held inside the school's gymnasium.

The change of venue from the Mike Vanacore Field certainly did not dampen the enthusiasm of the graduates, their parents and families, school staff and administrators, and the many others who attended the ceremony to wish "congratulations" to these students-turned-graduates.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Cronin welcomed everyone, nodding to the seniors that, "twelve years ago you began your journey and somewhere along the way you grew up, you studied, you played."

Adriano Cirioli, president of the Class of 2013, had the audience laughing when he confirmed that, "Yes, I am the cashier you recognize from Stop & Shop."

He went on to tell the story of a journey from first grade to tonight, from photos at the bus stop to photos at graduation.

"We stuck together and grew together; now there are many roads you can choose to travel to make it your own," said Cirioli.

Board of Education Vice Chairman Wesley O'Brien rose to speak, showing off his own diploma from the Class of 1971, North Haven High School.

"Without this diploma, you don't get the benefit of furthering your education. It's a door opener, and it's the difference between a job and a career," said O'Brien.

Class Valedictorian Matthew Marcarelli helped many answer the question, "What is the true, singular value of your high school education?"

He stated many of his classmates' responses to the question: "It makes us more knowledgeable, prepares us for college, helps us form a career, gives us self-discipline, responsibility, social skills and a meaning of life."
