North Haven CMT, CAPT Scores Stay Above State Averages

Overall, the standardized test scores for the North Haven School District were pretty similar to last year's totals, with a slight decrease in CAPT scores.

In North Haven, town students still exceed the state averages in both CMT and CAPT scores.

In releasing the CMT and CAPT test scores for individual districts this year, the state Department of Education announced that CMT scores — given to students in grades three through eight — dipped as compared to last year, while CAPT performance — administered to 10th-graders — showed gains in some areas.

The numbers for North Haven, meanwhile, stayed relatively flat. CAPT scores were down slightly from 2012, particularly in math and science, but not severely.

Statewide CMT Scores

"Student performance data on the CMT show decreases in all grades and content areas as compared to last year," the department stated in a news release. "In most cases however, CMT data demonstrates a marked improvement over the baseline year of 2006."

"Performance increased slightly in mathematics, science and reading, but decreased slightly in writing. Compared to the baseline year of 2007, student performance increased in all content areas."
