North Haven Schools Becoming More Cost-Effective, Study Shows

Town ranked 19th in state in terms of cost-per-graduate.

North Haven public schools have become more cost-effective over the past year, a study issued by the Hartford-based Yankee Institute for Public Policy reports. 

Compiling data from the Department of Education on annual per-student expenditures going back thirteen years, and then dividing the total costs by a given school district's graduation rate, the Institute placed North Haven 19th in the state in terms of lifetime cost-per-graduate.

Last year, North Haven was ranked 37th, making it one of the most-improved school systems in the state for 2011, according to the Institute's metrics.

In the data, North Haven's cost-per-graduate comes out to roughly $123,426, with a 2011 graduation rate of 98%, up 1.9% from last year. 

North Haven maintains the lowest costs-per-graduate relative to other towns in the region. The next up the list is East Haven, which spends $123,579 per student.
