Stephen Consiglio: Republican Candidate for Board of Education

Nominee stresses importance of keeping up with changing technology, and preparing students for success.

Stephen Consiglio, 28, is a manager at Consolidated Electrical Distributors in Wallingford. Born in North Haven, he has been active in the community and on the local political scene for several years, and is currently a member of the Republic Town Committee and the Young Republicans of North Haven.

“As a lifetime resident of North Haven and a by-product of its public education system, I can offer a fresh view and creative solutions to issues that affect this community,” Consiglio said of his decision to run. “Furthermore, as a recent graduate of the Connecticut university system, I possess direct knowledge of the level of education a North Haven student needs to succeed in the future.”

Consiglio earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Connecticut in 2006. As a board member, he said he would seek to utilize his experience in marketing, personnel training and management to help create, “an atmosphere of education that parents and students can be proud of for years to come.”

Consiglio said he would also work to ensure the board gave due focus to the ongoing challenges wrought by ever-changing technology.

“During these budgetary constraining times, this will be an important issue that requires constant attention by board members,” he said. “We need to be ahead of the curve when it comes to information and energy advancements, or the town will constantly be playing catch-up. North Haven must continue to attract highly qualified and motivated educators and administrators in order to keep our education system first-rate.”
