Indians' Football Takes 42-8 Win to Open 2013 Season

North Haven football earned a 42-8 season-opening win over Bridgeport Central on Sept. 13.


The North Haven football team traveled to Bridgeport Central on Sept. 13 and came home with a commanding 42-8 win over its host to start the 2013 season. 

The Indians scored a pair of touchdowns in each of the first two quarters to take a 28-0 lead into halftime and scored one in each of the final frames before Bridgeport Central put up a score with a two-point conversion to close out the scoring.

The Indians were on the scoreboard within the first minute of play as Fred Sanchez returned an interception for 30 yards. With 2:46 to play in the first quarter, Ethan Suraci punched in a score from the one-yard line.

In the second quarter, Michael Montano had a 51-yard TD and Suraci had his second score of the game, this time from 13 yards out.

QB Michael Halloran connected with Zac Kastenhuber on a 14-yard touchdown pass to go up 35-0 in the third quarter. Cole Pecora scored North Haven final points, rushing in the ball from the 38-yard line in the fourth quarter. Sabrina Fronte was 5-for-5 on point-after attempts.

Halloran was 5-for-9 passing for 70 yards to go with 41 rushing yards. Michael Montano collected 157 yards on 8 rushes. Pecora totaled 68 rushing yards, while Suraci had 57.

Patrick Mikos led the defense with nine tackles with Benjamin Pethick and Halloran each having six. 

Next up, the Indians host Xavier on Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. before traveling to East Haven on Friday, Sept. 27 for a 7 p.m. game.
