Sports Spotlight: North Haven's Tyler Benson

Indians' varsity lacrosse captain Tyler Benson is one of the hardest working athletes in the area and a primary force behind the improvements the team has made. Athough there is still more work to be done to get the team on the road to success, Benson does not shy away from taking the lead. North Haven Patch caught up with the senior attack  to ask him a few questions.

Q: We'll start simple, what's you're favorite part about lacrosse?

A: I'd probably say the fast pace of the game. I've played hockey all my life too and I like some of the similarities between the two sports.

Q: What was the most difficult part about last season?

A: Probably not making the SCC tournament. We started 7-6 then we lost our last four games.

Q: Have a favorite band or musical artist?

A: I'd have to say Kanye West.

Q: What's your favorite place to eat in North Haven?

A: .

Q: Have any hobbies outside of lacrosse?

A: I enjoy golf. I like to ski. I'd consider those hobbies I guess. I'm just really into sports in general.

Q: Do you have a dream job?

A: I'd say my dream job is to be on Pardon the Interruption on ESPN.

Q: Do you have a favorite professional athlete?

A: Lebron James. I just like his style of play, he's fun to watch.

Q: What's the most embarrassing moment from your childhood ?

A:  I went tubing once on my uncle's boat. It was a two-person tube and my cousin pushed me off. When I was holding on with one hand trying to stay on, my bathing suit just flew off. There were like 15 people in the boat.

Q: What's your favorite subject in school?

A: Probably U.S. history. I just like history in general. International relations, history, I enjoy that kind of stuff.

Q: What would you consider your best moment in lacrosse?

A: Definitely scoring the overtime goal to beat Notre Dame (West Haven) last year. It was really exciting.
