North Haven's Weimer Playing In National Women's Soccer League

The North Haven High School graduate has played soccer across the globe and now will play for the Portland Thorns FC.

Tiffany Weimer, a North Haven High School graduate, has played soccer across the world. But now, for the time being, she'll be back in the United States, playing in the National Women's Soccer League.

And she is happy to be back.

The New Haven Register reports that Weimer, 29, made her debut for the Portland Thorns FC of the National Women's Soccer League last month. Weimer had previously played for teams in Sweden, Canada, Finland, Brazil and Denmark.

“It’s pretty awesome,” Weimer told the newspaper about playing in the United States again. “People forget about you when you’re overseas. It’s nice to play in front of your friends and family, and now they can understand the commentators. It’s pretty special.”
