North Haven Gas Prices Lower Than Connecticut Average

Are you traveling for the 4th of July? Fill up before you leave town!

Americans are taking advantage of a to take vacation, and AAA says more than ever are hitting the road this week, driving greater than 50 miles for their plans.

North Havenites would be wise to top off the tank before heading out, as gas prices in town are 4 cents lower than the Connecticut average, says the AAA website.

According to AAA, "On April 6, motorists experienced a year-to-date peak average price of $3.94 per gallon for regular gasoline. The current national average price of regular gasoline is $3.50 per gallon, 44 cents lower than the April peak and 16 cents less than this time last year."

The average price for a gallon of gas in the greater New Haven area is $3.59 for regular, accorrding to AAA's Fuel Gauge Report. That compares to a Connecticut average of $3.63 per gallon for regular.

GasBuddy.com reported Sunday that the cheapest gas in North Haven coud be found at , 133 Middletown Ave.

But while more folks are leaving home for the holiday, they plan to spend less, AAA reported. "Median spending is expected to be $749, a 7 percent decrease compared to the expected median spending of intended holiday travelers ($807) in 2011."
