National Weather Service says isolated tornado 'can't be ruled out'

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for today, calling for severe thunderstorms, damaging winds, hail, and even the possibility of an isolated tornado.

The bulk of the intense weather is predicted for this afternoon and evening, but could begin in the late morning.

The forecast:

  • Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 11am and noon. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 90. South wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before midnight. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 73. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
  • Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 7am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 90. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
