Beyond Paycheck to Paycheck Workshops

Managing your family’s money can be challenging. This basic 3-part personal finance workshop series provided by UConn Extension will help you identify actions you can take to manage your money more effectively to reach your goals. Topics to be addressed include personal values and attitudes about money, family communication about finances, setting SMART goals, how to be better prepared for financial emergencies, creating your M.A.P.

(money action plan), your credit history and reducing debt and other topics. The series will be held Mondays, February 24th, March 3rd and 10th, 6:30 - 8 pm at the UConn Extension Center, 305 Skiff Street in North Haven. The workshops are free, but space is limited and pre-registration is required. Participation in all three sessions is strongly encouraged. These workshops, as well as several other events, are planned in celebration of Connecticut Saves Week, which takes place Monday, February 24 through Saturday, March 1. Connecticut Saves is a new social marketing campaign designed to encourage Connecticut citizens to assess their saving and save regularly for their goals. Governor Dannel P. Malloy has issued a proclamation in honor of Connecticut Saves Week. The Connecticut Saves Campaign is coordinated by UConn Extension with the support of these partners: Connecticut Department of Banking; Connecticut Department of Labor; Connecticut State Library; Connecticut State Treasurer’s Office; FDIC; Hartford Job Corps; Human Resources Agency of New Britain, Inc.; Naugatuck Head Start; New Haven County Extension Resource Council, Inc.; New Haven Free Public Library; and People’s United Bank. The Bank of America Foundation is supporting the Connecticut Saves Week Campaign through a mini-grant. America Saves Week is coordinated by America Saves at the Consumer Federation of America and the American Savings Education Council. The Week is an annual opportunity for organizations to promote good savings behavior and a chance for individuals to assess their own saving status. Connecticut Saves Week is affiliated with the national campaign.
