Joyce C. Budrow Senior Center

Founded in 1972, the Joyce C. Budrow Senior Center offers programs and resources for North Haven's senior citizens.More Fitness classes, ceramics, information sessions and scheduled trips are open to members throughout the year. A catered lunch is served daily at 11:45 a.m. to visitors over the age of 60 for a $2 donation, and eight-hour driver improvement courses are provided to those 50 and older. Transportation to and from the center is provided free of charge to members - handicapped or able-bodied. Bimonthly health counseling screenings are offered on the second Monday and fourth Wednesday of every month at no charge.

Temple Pines is the newer of the two North Haven Housing Authority properties; the other property is located down theMore street at 191 Pool Rd, just behind the Senior Recreations Center. Anyone 62 years of age or older may apply to live in the properties, provided his or her adjusted income is within certain guidelines.  Tenants pay 29 percent of their adjusted income in rent.

This property is a three-story apartment building with common spaces inside. It sits on a shaded property with picnic tables on the side closest to the road.

Department of Community Service and Recreation Center

The North Haven Recreation Center has an extensive list of programs for North Haven residents. Classes include TaeMore Kwan Do, Bowling, Yoga, Dog Obedience, Aqua Aerobics and many more.  Though the facility does not include an ice rink or bowling alley, the rec center does have relationships with other local business to provide these opportunities during very specific times. The Olympic-size indoor pool is open daily, and can be reserved for birthday parties.

The Rec Center works with local schools to assist with interscholastic athletic programs. Additionally, the Recreation Center offers a long list of programs  for pre-school and school-aged children to help them get and stay physically fit.  Remember the habits kids learn while young will stay with them for a life time.

The following are the hours for the pool schedule, though they are always subject to change.

Open Swim:

  • Monday - Friday, 11am - 12:30pm
  • Monday, Wednesday, 7pm - 9pm
  • Tuesday, Thursday, 6pm - 8pm
  • Saturday, 2pm - 4pm
  • Sundays after September 12, 2pm - 5pm

Adult Swim

  • Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 8:30am
  • Monday - Friday, 12:30pm - 1:30pm
  • Saturday, 1pm - 2pm
  • Sundays after September 12, 1pm - 2pm

Senior Citizen Swim

  • Tuesday, Thursday, 10am - 11am
