Get Your Bulky Trash Ready!

The two-week curbside pickup of bulky trash begins on Sept. 9.

First Selectman Michael J. Freda announced that beginning Monday, September 9, 2013, the Town's Department of Public Works will provide a two-week curbside collection program for bulk items to the residents of North Haven.

Bulk items are defined as large upholstered items (couches, chairs, mattresses, box springs, love seats, sectionals and recliner chairs); appliances or “white goods” (washers, dryers, refrigerators, ranges and dish washers) and scrap metals (curtain rods, bicycles, metal tables, metal ladders, lawn mowers, metal grills, air conditioners, etc.).

Residents are encouraged to place bulk items for pick-up at the curb along with their regular sanitation and recycling containers by 5 a.m. on their designated sanitation collection day.

Please note that wood items are not considered bulk. Wood items, including wooden chairs, tables, bookcases, etc., can be incinerated and therefore will be picked up along with your weekly curbside sanitation collection.

Electronics such as televisions, stereos, computers, copiers, fax machines, etc. must be brought to the Town's Recycling Center, which is located on 24 Elm Street adjacent to the North Haven Racquet Club. Electronics by law must be recycled and disposal is available for all North Haven residents at no cost.

“Curbside bulk pick-up is an important service that the Town is happy to continue to provide to its residents”, First Selectman Freda stated. “It is this type of customer service that shows how committed our Department of Public Works staff are to the welfare of the citizens of North Haven.”

Further information on the semi-annual curbside bulk pick-up program may be obtained by reviewing the Town’s website at www.town.north-haven.ct.us or by contacting the Department of Public Works at (203) 239-5321, extension 400.
